Today is really interesting. Let me start with the events that led to today.
some months ago Geert Wilders, a dutch politician got sued for racism and discrimination and what not but he was not punished because of freedom of speech.
some days ago a report was released that was a detailed research about Geert Wilders and his party the report concluded that Geert Wilders party might be a threat to our law system and that the party shows strong rightwing extremist characteristics (like the NSDAP in Germany before the 2nd world war).
after that report two politicians,
Alexander Pechtold and minister Eberhard van der Laan openly accused Wilders and his party of being rightwing extremist and a threat to our law system. Wilders was shocked and said it was outrageous. (so he can say whatever he wants about muslims but people cannot say stuff about him?)
today Alexander Pechtold got sued by the party members of the PVV (Wilders his party) for what he said (i do not know what the aquisitions are yet, there is no law that says you cannot call someone a rightwing extremist afaik).
Does anybody see the irony here?
Wilders wants to be able to say stuff like "i want to shoot all the muslims who commit a crime in the knee" (which is very discriminating in my opinion) but he does not want other people to say stuff like "you are a rightwing extremist" or "you are a threat to our law system".
the biggest Irony of all, PVV stands for partij voor de vijheid (translated party for the freedom) Wilders and his party claims to be defending freedom of speech... yet he finds it outrageous when people say something bad about him and his party then sues those people...
so, i ask this to Wilders and his party and the members of his party and to all the people who voted for PVV or have an opinion and would like to share it...
what happened to freedom of speech?
